Captain Albert W. Landeck, USNR, resident of Del Webb's Celebrate Community in Stafford County, passed away after a lengthy illness on June 16, 2017 at his home. He was with his loved ones when he died. He was 77 years old. He was born in Detroit, Michigan and grew up in Southfield, Michigan. His parents were Albert H. Landeck and Rae Landeck, now deceased.

Al went to the University of Illinois on a Navy ROTC scholarship and graduated with a BS Degree in Engineering. He was commissioned as Ensign in the US Navy...

Captain Albert W. Landeck, USNR, resident of Del Webb's Celebrate Community in Stafford County, passed away after a lengthy illness on June 16, 2017 at his home. He was with his loved ones when he died. He was 77 years old. He was born in Detroit, Michigan and grew up in Southfield, Michigan. His parents were Albert H. Landeck and Rae Landeck, now deceased.

Al went to the University of Illinois on a Navy ROTC scholarship and graduated with a BS Degree in Engineering. He was commissioned as Ensign in the US Navy , February 1962. He was on active duty for 8 ½ years. During this time he served on the USS Hazelwood, DD 531, a destroyer; the USS Tang, SS 563, and the USS Diodon, SS 349, both submarines. While on the Hazelwood, he was at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba during the Cuban missile crisis. He made three deployments to the Western Pacific during Vietnam on the Tang and Diodon. He left active duty in 1970. From 1970 to 1984 he was in the Navy Reserve and retired as a Navy Captain. He attended graduate school at The Ohio State University, Columbus, Ohio where he completed a master's degree in Business Administration, December 1971. On Completion of his degree, he started work as a financial planner for the North American Aircraft Division, of Rockwell International in Columbus, Ohio. He later worked for Rockwell in El Segundo and Seal Beach, California and retired in 1999. After retirement from Rockwell/Boeing, he lived in Prescott, Arizona until 2014 when he moved to Stafford County, Virginia to be closer to family. He was a member of Delta Chi Fraternity, Clan MacFarlane, SAR, USSVI, Navy League and other service related organizations.

He is survived by his wife of 56 Years, Roberta (Abell) Landeck. He is also survived by his brother, Dr. Richard Landeck (Christine) of Perrin, Texas and sister, Karen Landeck (George Jones) of Cheboygan, Michigan. He and his wife Roberta had three children; Albert B. Landeck (Trish Jalbert) of Amherst, NH; Jennifer Landeck-Riker (Chris Riker) of Lakewood, OH; Deborah Stahl (Michael Stahl, Jr.) of Stafford, VA. He is also survived by six grandchildren: Gwendolyn Landeck and Duncan Landeck of Amherst, NH; Liam Riker and Rhiannon Riker of Lakewood, OH; and Allison Stahl and Michael Stahl of Stafford, VA. He is also survived by nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death was granddaughter, Miranda Landeck .

Arrangements are incomplete. Internment is being planned for Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
